Red Velvet Waffles

These might make a good breakfast for Monday to get ready for the game.  Of course we have to have pancakes on gameday.  If you are not sure what that is about check back at this post to see what I am talking about.

Now for the waffles.
Looks like a lot of ingredients but it doesn't take long to make.
Start with one egg.
Add 1 cup buttermilk
Add 1/4 cup sour cream.  (You can use fat free or reduced fat buttermilk and sour cream)
Add 3 Tablespoon melted butter.
Add 2 Tablespoon sugar
Add 4 Tablespoon cocoa
Add 1 teaspoon baking powder
Add 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
Add 1/4 teaspoon salt
Add 1 Tablespoon of red food coloring
Add 1 teaspoon vanilla
Add 1 cup plain flour
Mix well.
Have the waffle iron hot and ready to go when the batter is made.  Pour some of the batter into the middle of the iron.
My waffle iron has a light that turns red when the waffle is done.
Perfect for gameday.
