Red Velvet Pie

Okay so it is a big game this weekend so we had to pull out all the stops.  We had to have something that was red velvet. I found this recipe for red velvet pie and it looked good.  It was good but very sweet.  A little goes a long way.  This is like the fudge pie but with the red coloring added.
It needed just a little whipped cream on top. If the game had not been so exciting I might have added a few crimson sprinkles on top.
This recipe has cocoa and chocolate chips.
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 stick softened butter and 2 eggs. Whip that together until good and fluffy.
1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 Tablespoons cocoa
1 oz red food coloring
2/3 cup chocolate chips
It is a pretty color.
Pour the filling in a regular frozen pie crust. Place in a preheated 350 oven for 30 minutes.
Nice and warm from the oven.  I wouldn't cut it right after it comes out of the oven.  I would let it cool first. The center will be too gooey until it cools.
Then enjoy with a football victory.
