Mardi Gras is right around the corner and if you can't make it to Cafe du Monde then you can make beignets right at your house. Now the chicory coffee I'm not too sure about.
All you need is a can of biscuits, a deep fryer, and some powdered sugar.
Open the biscuit can and separate the biscuits.
Then pull the biscuit in half.
You will have two pieces for each biscuit.
While your oil is heating up go ahead and split all the biscuits.
When it is hot drop several biscuit pieces in the hot oil. When one side gets nice and brown flip them. You don't want to put too many in at one time because you will have to work them.
First one is finished. Drain on paper towels.
With a small sifter sift some powdered sugar on the beignets. You will want to get them covered really well.
Then transfer to another plate.
The finished product. I have been told from a reliable source not to inhale the powdered sugar.
