Cherry Chocolate Kisses

I am trying out some possible holiday recipes today.  I hope you will enjoy them and maybe make one or two to share with your families during the upcoming holiday season.  Don't blink or you might miss it.
These are a light cookie.  It has powdered sugar instead of regular sugar in the batter.
Cream one cup of butter that has been softened.
Add 1/8 teaspoon salt
Add one cup powdered sugar.  Mix well.
Add 2 teaspoon maraschino cherry juice.
Add 1/4 teaspoon almond extract.  You could probably use vanilla if you did not have almond.
Add 2 1/4 cup all purpose flour.  Mix between each cup.
Add a half cup of chopped maraschino cherries.
The batter is all nice and mixed.  If you would like for it to be a brighter shade of pink you could add a drop or two of food coloring.
Roll the dough into 1 inch balls and place about 2 inches apart of the baking sheet.  My dough was a little soft so I put it in the refridgerator for a few minutes to firm up.
After I took them out of the fridge I put a thumb print in the center.  I needed three hands to do this picture. It's hard to hold the camera, make a thumb print, and push the button on the camera.
Sprinkle the tops of the cookies with granulated sugar.
Place the cookie sheets in a preheated 325 oven for about 14 minutes.
Have your Hershey kisses ready.  As soon as the cookies come out of the oven press the kisses into the cookies.  I used cherry cordial kisses for an extra burst of cherry.
The finished cookies.
