Smoked Sausage and Rice One Skillet Meal

Who does not like a quick and easy one pot meal.  If the quick and easy doesn't grab you the one pot will.  This is a great meal for those nights when you don't have a lot of time and don't want to spend long on clean up too.  You can use whatever kind of smoked sausage you like.  I know some people like to use turkey sausage.  Also I used brown rice in this instead of white but use whatever you have.  You could probably use quinoa too but you would have to cook that first.

I love the broccoli in this recipe.
Keep these ingredients in your freezer/pantry for those nights you need something quick.
Melt 1 Tablespoon butter into some olive oil in a skillet.
Now the onion wasn't in the original recipe but who doesn't love onions.
Slice the smoked sausage. Sauté the sausage and onions.
Chop up the broccoli a little bit.
Add the broccoli to the pot.
Cook for a few minutes.
The recipe said to cover the skillet and let the broccoli steam for a few minutes.  If you do not have a lid for your skillet just put a cookie sheet on top.
Cook you rice You need about 1 1/2 cups of cooked rice.
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion salt
Add the rice to the broccoli mixture.
Stir well.  Add salt and pepper to taste.
Top with some grated cheese.
Let that melt.
And serve.
