Today was our last day in the city for a while. We had tickets to the Natural History Museum. If you have seen the Night at the Museum movies you are familiar with this museum. We were told because of the movies they now offer a spend the night at the museum event. I’m not sure I want to do that. It is huge and dark in places.
We checked out of the hotel and today we drove to our destination. There is limited parking underneath the museum. So to get into the city we had to take the Holland tunnel. It cost $17.00 to drive through. I don’t know how you could do that every day back and forth.
We saw some interesting buildings on the way.this one looks like it could be a quilt pattern.
We passed by the Intrepid
We made it to the museum and Central Park is across the street. We had plans for going through the park this morning.the long range weather said today was going to be a wash out.Well it rained this morning and then stopped. So we were able to go over, and just like Alabama after a rain it was HUMID!!
The first area we went to was Shakespeare’s Garden.
We went in Belvedere Castle.
Some of the ritziest addresses in the city.
The front of the Natural History Museum.
We went up to the restaurant for lunch and to rest a little and cool off before we go through the museum. Lunch was good but it was the dessert we had to try after the waiter told us they had a pana cotta like we have never seen before. Challenge accepted.
Everything was edible. It was a raspberry pana cotta. With dehydrated raspberries along with fresh raspberries. The butterfly was white chocolate. The other white crunchy layer was called coconut run h but didn’t taste like coconut. I think the greens were watercress. And topped with an edible flower. I am going to try and recreate it at home. I think you could do the same with strawberries.
Now on to the museum. I failed to mention that there were about a million school kids of various ages there today.all in their matching colored shirts.
When we left we headed north to Fishkill, NY. The first bridge we crossed was the George Washington bridge. The second bridge was the Tappan Zee bridge. Joe has always wanted to go across the Tappan Zee.
Tonight in Fishkill we found a bbq place in the old Town Hall building. I tried their bbq nachos and they were delicious. I need to make those at home too.
