Traveling with the Grobmyers May 8, 2024

Here’s what’s happening at the ranch. If that sounds familiar to you then you know where I have been today. Today we drove to Pawhuska, Oklahoma. We drove over there several years ago and drove over there and went through several small little towns. One of which has a sign proudly declaring to be the birthplace of Anita Bryant and Clark Gable. I was so excited that I would take a picture of that sign. I have always thought it was an odd combination. Well, on Monday night the tornados came through tat town and another one close by. So we did not go that way we did not want to drive through an already busy area with clean up.

First stop was the Merc. This is the Pioneer Woman, Ree Drumond’s place. It has been renovated since we were last here. She has done a lot to revitalize the town. Starting with the Mercantile.

There is a deli and bakery in this building. There’s an event space.

A shop with dishes and other housewares and her new line of furniture.

The new boarding house

We ate lunch at P-town pizza.

Charles is the new ice cream shop.

Some other interesting things in town.

Pawhuska is in Osage County. It is the largest county in Oklahoma. Killers of the Flower Moon was filmed in and around Pawhuska.it is a story about the Osage Indian tribe.

We drove out the The Lodge. The Lodge is used for filming the Pioneer Woman show. I love the Lodge and would love to cook there. The pantry is a dream. And let’s not talk about the prep kitchen and the shelves of dishes and pots and pans.

We also visited the Blue Whale on the historic Route 66.

The Blue Whale was built by Huge Davis in 1972. When it was completed people from all around visited it to fish, and have picnics. At some point it has been given to the city.
