25 Days of Christmas Cookies: Day 15 Caramel Apple Snickerdoodles

Indulge me a little bit here.  I know we think of apples and caramel as fall flavors but I found this recipe and had to try it. So it is going to be a Christmas cookie.  I uses apple cider in the dough so that is Christmassy isn't it?  Go ahead and try them.  I don't think anyone will be turning them down.

This cookie smells so good while it is baking.  You will want to bake them year round for that smell in your kitchen.
This recipe uses two special ingredients; caramel bits and the apple cider powdered mix.  Keep the caramel bits in the pantry all the time because they really come in handy.  They are easier to use than the caramels you have to unwrap.
Start with 2 sticks softened butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
Mix well.
2 eggs
Mix that again.
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 pkg of apple cider drink mix
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup caramel bits.  Mix all this together.
In a separate bowl mix 1/4 cup sugar
1 Tablespoon cinnamon
Mix that well.
Drop the cookie balls in the mixture and roll.
Here are my cookies ready for the freezer.  To bake preheat oven to 350.  Bake for 9-11 min.
Let cool on the pan for 5-10 minutes.
Then enjoy this tasty cookie.
