25 Days of Christmas Cookies: Day 22 Cranberry Orange Cookies

Cranberries and oranges are two of the flavors that define Christmas. These are easy to make and are freezable.  Make up a batch or two and put in the freezer for warm cookies when company stops by.

There's orange peel in the cookie and the cookie is rolled in some as well.
You can use fresh orange peel but I had some dried and it worked just as well.
Start with 3/4 cup softened butter.
1 cup sugar.
Cream them together until fluffy.
Add 1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 Tablespoon orange zest.  This is the dried kind. It smells really good.
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup dried cranberries, chopped.
Now in another bowl add 1/2 cup sugar
1 Tablespoons orange zest
Stir well.
Scoop the cookies into balls
Then roll in the sugar mixture.
Mine are ready to be put in the freezer to flash freeze.
Put in a labeled bag and put in the freezer.  When you are ready to bake preheat oven to 350.  Bake for 10-13 minutes.  It might take an extra minute if they are frozen.
Bake and enjoy.  Or share with friends and family.
