Traveling with the Grobmyers Day 6 July 5,2025

We didn’t have far to drive today, and it was a nice drive. We left Washington, North Carolina and entered the Outer Banks. This is the first time we have been to the Outer Banks and we would like to come back and spend more time here when it is cooler. The worse part is all the really long bridges you have to cross including a draw bridge.

Our first stop this morning was a Christmas shop. I know you are surprised. This was was called just The Christmas Shop. It was really nice and had lots of local ornaments.

After we left the Christmas shop we drove out to the Lost Colony. I remember studying this in elementary school and what I remember was Virginia Dare being the first child born in America and several years later when more people came to where they had settled they were all gone. Nothing was left behind. They just disappeared. And that is pretty much the story of that colony. They originally came and made friends with the Native Americans and then when times got tough they turned on the Native Americans. When some of the colony went back to England to get more supplies, support and people, the remaining colonist disappeared.

I found a quilt store today. It was a nice one. She had lots of wool and patterns for ornaments and candle mats. I found some buttons to decorate another one of my quilt trees.

When you want a good place to eat always ask the locals. The Blue Moon Beach Grill did not disappoint.

We shared some buffalo shrimp. The shrimp were huge. Not too spicy.

I got pork tenderloin and Joe got crab cakes. We both enjoyed our selections.

We could not pass up dessert. They looked really good. I had key lime pie and it was not too tart and the strawberries were very good. Joe got the caramel cheesecake.

I found another Christmas shop. This was The Christmas Mouse. It was like the one I went to in Myrtle Beach.

View from our room tonight.
