This recipe reminds me of those chocolate oranges that you whack on the counter to break it apart. I haven't seen those in a few years. That blend of chocolate and orange is so good. This is a nice fudgy cookie. I think you will like this combination.
There's a lot of chocolate in this cookie.
There's two types of chocolate bars and then cocoa in these cookies.Put 2Tablespoons of butter in a microwave safe bowl.
6 oz semi sweet chocolate bar chopped. This is one of the baking bars and then 2 oz from another one. Just rough chop it.
Add it to the bowl with the butter. Place in the microwave and heat at 15 second intervals. Stir after each 15 seconds.
You want it melted and smooth like this. I transferred this back to my mixing bowl
To the chocolate add 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon orange zest. I didn't really measure it. Mix well.
1/4 cup brown sugar. Mix well
1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 Tablespoons milk
3 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup plus 2 1/2 Tablespoons all purpose flour. Add a little at a time. Mix well.
7 oz orange chocolate. This is two bars. I used Lindt intense orange. There may be other brands.
Chop it up fine. Add to the batter. Mix well. Scoop your dough out. Preheat oven to 325. When you put the cookie sheet in the oven reduce heat to 300. Bake for 16 minutes. Turn your pans after every 6 minutes. Now I'm not sure why you need to do this or if it makes a difference. Let cookies cool on cookie sheet.
Enjoy the chocolatey goodness.
