This morning as we were heading out of Mystic we went across the road to a donut place we read about yesterday. I must say after reading about their donuts I was very curious. The name is Deviant Donuts. Those donuts were deviant and decadent.

This is what we got. One vanilla, one Samoa, and one apple fritter to split later. Guess which one Joe picked? All I can say is my Samoa was good.
Now it is only an hour from Mystic to North Haven where we will be for the rest of the week. So once again we took the road less traveled or at least the road with a quilt shop and a few antique shops on it.
First stop was a great little quilt shop, That’s Sew Debbie. I have discovered on this trip that it really is a small world. In this case the owner of the shop had just gotten back from Alabama where she visited some of her husband’s relatives in Fort Payne. It was a great shop and I enjoyed talking with her.
I took this picture from an antique shop. We thought the tree was interesting. Joe said it looked like a Heffalump. I thought it looked like one of those dogs that’s hair is like yarn. What do you see?
We found another diner today.
Then this afternoon we went to the Eli Whitney Museum to see their Gilbert displays. This is the start of the ACGHS convention.
We left Eli Whitney and headed over to Erector Square. This is the factory for the Gilbert company.It’s where all the erector sets, chemistry sets, magic sets, and trains were made along with some household appliances. A.C. Gilbert’s office is on the third floor and that is where we are meeting tonight. This is a special treat for all the collectors.
Tomorrow brings a few more erector activities as well.
