These cookies remind me of some German spice Christmas cookies I have had before. This recipe calls for a glaze to put on the cookies while they are warm. I didn't do that with my sample cookies but I may try it on the next ones.
I think Santa will approve of these cookies.Yes there is cocoa in this recipe. I don't think you can really taste the cocoa because there is so little in the recipe. I think it might be more for the color.Start with 1 cup sugar
2 eggs and 6 Tablespoons softened butter1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 Tablespoon cocoa powder
1 teaspoon nutmeg1/2 teaspoon cloves. This smells so good
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 teaspoons baking powder
The zest of one orange. Now you are going to juice the orange
You will need just a little less than 1/3 cup
Add 3 cups all purpose flour1/2 cup milk. I almost forgot to add the milk. The recipe says to mix everything at one time. I did mix a little along but not much.
Preheat oven to 350 Bake for about 15 minutes. I made smaller cookies so I cooked mine for 12 minutes.
