So today I had the day to myself. Joe was staying at the hotel to set up for the show and to visit with friends. I drove over to Lancaster because we were so close to check out some of my favorite quilt shops. It is less than an hour away and I started early and got there when they opened.
First stop of the day was Log Cabin Quilts. This is one of my favorite shops here. They have a little bit of everything. Lots of patterns, precuts, panels, premade quilts and fabric. I was successful in finding a couple of new patterns and some fabric I was looking for.
I bought this pattern.
I bought this pattern too.
I left there and drove just a little bit up the road to The Old Country Store. This is another favorite. I get emails from them and have ordered online from them as well. One of the things I like about this store is they have lots of other things. They have a section of kitchen gadgets that is always fun to look at. There are puzzles. I bought one for Joe that had old toys including an erector set on it. They have premade quilts on one side of the store and lots of fabric. They had , I’m not sure what to call it. It’s. It a panel and not a pattern, but I bought it because I want to try and make it. Might frame it when I finish it.
This is the item. Since we have been to all the states I think it would be fun to make and then add some decorative stitches around the edges.
They don’t have as many quilts made up displayed in the store unless they have the kit for it. This is the Pennsylvania shop hop time and Saturday was going to be a big day for them so I am glad I came on Friday.
I had to back track a little for this shop I passed it on the way to Old Country Store. This was Bird in Hand. I think it use to be called something else and the name changed. It was a nice shop. I think they may cater to the Amish because they had every shade of black you could think of. Out of respect I didn’t take a picture of that. They had a lot of other pretty fabric. Not many patterns.
The last store is one I found on one of my most recent trips to Lancaster. I enjoy looking at a lot of things they have in their shop. A picture of the farm to show there is a farm.
This shop has some hand made items for sale. Some ornaments and of course quilts. All shops sell quilts of some kind or the other. I bought a little stuffed elephant.
I drive back to York and picked up Joe and we had lunch at Mission BBQ. I think we are either getting one or there is already one in Madison. I hope we do have one it was good bbq. I love the them of the restaurant.
Good bbq. Not southern cornbread though.
Plenty of sauces to try. She even brought us some Alabama white sauce. Nothing like hearing Sweet Home Alabama while there either.
I learned something last night. York peppermint patties was named for the town of York Pennsylvania.
I have something fun planned for in the morning stay tuned.
